Materials:
Computer
Pen/Pencil (if need/want to rough draft)

Grading: The Standard Grade scale will be used.


Points will be determined by using the following criteria:
Deadlines met on time.
Reading and writing complex texts.
Class time used, not wasted.
Content and clarity of work completed.
Semester and Final Exams.

Semester Grades:
45% First Quarter
45% Second Quarter
10% Semester Exam
**Excused absence policy: Assignments, projects and tests can be made up in a timely fashion with arrangements from the instructor.
**Unexcused absence policy: Assignments and quizzes cannot be made up. Major projects and tests can be made up in a timely fashion with arrangements from the instructor.


Course Goals:
To use peer and self-editing processes.
To assist in creating pieces of publishable quality.
To learn to set and meet deadlines.
To continue the use of desktop publishing, the digital camera and the scanner.
To use interviewing and research skills to compose articles and captions.
To improve communication skills.
To experience pride in a tangible project and feel the ownership that accompanies it.
To produce a quality articles and publications.

Classroom Behavior Policy: This is a demanding course because of all the things we need to accomplish. You may expect to be coming in before and after school, as well as study halls to meet your deadlines. I do not have time to deal with behavior problems; therefore, I expect you to work and act responsibly AT ALL TIMES!
